Fusion Cycling Team

The Fusion Cycling Team/River City Velo Club (RCV) is a USAC licensed team that is based in the Grand Rapids area and surrounding suburbs (Michigan). The members of RCV participate in almost all aspects of cycling competition including: road races, criteriums, time trials, ultra-endurance road and mountain biking, cross-country mountain biking, cyclocross, and triathlons.

The focus and mission of RCV is to help each member take their cycling abilities to a higher level of fitness and competition through group training rides, a commitment to participating in races, and by providing a network of training and nutrition experience. RCV is also committed to promoting the team’s generous sponsors through grass roots marketing at all of our races and cycling events.

2010 Fisk Knob Time Trial

Fisk Knob County Park and the rolling hills of northern Kent County set the scene for one of Michigan’s classic spring races, the Fisk Knob Time Trial. This year marks the 30^th anniversary and although some things have changed over the years, it’s still the perfect way to kick-off your racing season. After enduring a tough winter, Fisk Knob is a celebration of cycling for everyone from the seasoned racer to the weekend warrior. The event combines great food and camaraderie with spirited competition, on one of the more challenging time trial courses in the State. So for 2010, be a part of tradition and test your early season fitness at Fisk Knob on March 21. Registration and course information is available on the Fisk Knob page.

2009; A Year in Review

As we head towards December, the days are rapidly getting shorter and the sun is setting on the 2009 racing season. However, this was a year that was filled with great racing, top results, and big developments for the Fusion Cycling Team.

The 09’ season launched the start of our women’s team and junior’s team and it was exciting to see them make their presence known at the road and mountain bike events this year. For many of them, it was their first year of racing and it was really a great process seeing some of our more experienced teammates help out with the race strategy, training, and all the other nuances that go into racing.

The Fusion Cycling Team has riders competing just about everywhere including; on the roads, in the woods, and over the barriers. With over 25 teammates lining-up, riding fast, and taking chances across the State, it’s been extremely hectic on my end trying to keep track of where all my teammates are on a given weekend. A few of this year’s race highlights that come to mind are listed below:

For most of us, there really isn't an off-season anymore. Instead, the next few months will be spent lifting, running, and riding countless miles on our trainers; going nowhere in particular but taking our fitness to the next level, to be even stronger and faster next season.
