The town of Mount Pleasant was the setting for two great days of racing with a Saturday Crit on June 12 and a road race on June 13. Both events were extremely well organized and supported from start to finish and the promoters set the bar pretty high for others to follow. The weather was nearly perfect and the locals came out in big numbers to check out the action. Although the crit and road courses were flat, the racing was still very challenging with some of the higher average speeds so far this season.....people were really pushing the pace. Noteable results for Fusion, included Kim Thomas taking 1st place in the Women's Cat 4 Crit and following it up with a 6th place finish in the road race. Coming up next....Fusion will be loading up the bikes and making the journey to the U.P. for Superior Bike Fest on June 25-27 for three days of racing that take place in the very cool town of Marquette. Racing gets kicked-off on Friday with the twilight criterium on the hilly, fan-packed, downtown streets of Marquette. Saturday, racers will line up for the State Road Championship race, which will take riders from the shoreline of Lake Superior through some very hilly, challenging roads that wind there way through some of the iron mining districts of the U.P. Then racing concludes on Sunday with a circuit race on Presque Isle which will packed with intensity as riders complete numerous laps on the hilly 2-mile course. On July 10, the cobblestone streets of downtown Grand Rapids will be filled with racers competing in the 4th annual Grand Cycling Classic. The race is part of the National Race Calendar (NRC) and will include plenty of top national pros making a visit to GR. If you're in the area that weekend, you will definitely want to check out the racing action.....and stop by Fusion's team tent. |
